GRAND STAIRCASE ESCALANTE NATIONAL MONUMENT AND GLEN CANYON NATIONAL RECREATION AREA BACKPACKING TRIP INFORMATION Approximate itinerary:

DAY   DATES LOCATION 1 Fri., May 27th Depart Phx evening of May 27th. Camp overnight north of Flagstaff. 2 Sat., May 28th Drive to Coyote Gulch's Red Well Trailhead and Hurricane Wash Trailhead. Leave a car at each. Depart down Coyote Gulch from Red Well Trailhead. Hike several miles and camp. 3 Sun., May 29th Hike remainder of Coyote Gulch to Escalante River. Set up base camp. 4 Mon., May 30th Dayhike up Escalante River - north. 5 Tue., May 31st Dayhike up Stevens Canyon - north. 6 Wed., June 1st Dayhike down Escalante River - south. Hike halfway back out Coyote Gulch. 7 Thu., June 2nd Hike out to car at Hurricane Wash. Drive back to Phx.
